JJ Gilmour

JJ Gilmour

JJ is one of Scotland's most interesting songwriters. He first came to the public's notice as the front man with Celtic rockers The Silencers as well as fronting the super group The Casbah Club and replacing Brian Harvey in the band East 17.

In 2002 he released his debut album Sunnyside P.A.L to critical and commercial success proving he had the songwriting skills to match his voice. The following years were frustrating as his record label and publisher went bust, leaving him in limbo. It was not until 2009 that we saw another record from JJ. The Boy Who Didn't Fall showed he still had the knack for writing great pop songs and the voice was as strong as ever.

In 2010 JJ co-wrote the musical Dancing Shoes about the life of footballer George Best, which completed a sell out month long run at Belfast Grand Opera House and is about to tour the UK and Ireland later this year.
